Qualification Description

The CHC40113 Certificate IV in School Age Education and Care introduces students to the role of working in the field of school age care. It is one of the minimum qualifications for gaining employment in an ACECQA approved school age care service and often the first qualification for those wanting to move to higher qualifications in school age care in the future.

Hours of Work
This qualification requires a minimum of 120 hours of work to be completed in a regulated education and care service.

This course is not available to international students.

The Certificate IV qualification supports employment in the following roles:

  • Educator in before and after school care programs
  • Educator in vacation care or school holiday programs
  • Nominated Supervisor
  • Support roles in leisure/youth programs including recreation assistant
  • Educational Leader
  • Other education based employers may accept this qualification, such as working as a tutor, support workers or as a teacher aide

On completion of this qualification, you can gain credit (between 12-15 units) into the CHC50213 Diploma of School Age Education and Care to continue your education career. This will shorten the duration of your Diploma course and reduce the fees.
